Dharmapuri Kshetram :

 

The Dharmapuri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple is one of the most important settlements of Vedic Brahmins in the state. Every year in the months of March and April, devotees of the Lord come together to celebrate the famous Dharmapuri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Aalaya Jatara. The town, in the month of December, gets busy for the celebration of Mokshada Ekadashi.

 

Dharmapuri has one of the largest settlement of Vedic Brahmins in Telangana. There is a Sanskrit College and even till date there have been some traditional families practising Vedic Hymns and some of the family even have old Talapatra scriptures. There are several small temples virtually in every corner of the street of the town. Until recently people, mostly brahmin scholars have taken bath in river Godavari before they would perform vedic rites in the temple. There is one rare temple of the God Dattatreya [son of Lord Brahma] which is very rare.

 

Dharmapuri temple is one of the best sacred place with peaceful surrounding atmosphere to visit during the Godavari Pushkaralu period.
The main deity of this temple is Lord Narasimha Swamy,the incarnation of Lord Vishnu along with the Goddess Sri Lakshmi Devi.

Yama Dwitiya / Dwitheeya :

 

Every month poojas are done on Bharani Nakshatra day and special pujas are held on 'Yama Dwitiya', the second day after Diwali festival.

It is believed that on this day Lord Yama, visits the house of his sister Yamuna Devi for a lunch.

Lord Yama promised his sister that who ever offer prayers on Yama Dwitiya day would not go to Yamaloka and they would be get rid of all misery and distress.
