How To Plan Mysore Trip From Bangalore

Mysore is the best travel hotspot with its famous tourist attractions visited by a huge number of tourists regularly. It is called the city of palaces with its famous palaces like Mysore Maharaja Palace and is called as cultural capital of Karnataka. Mysore is well connected to prime locations like Bangalore and most of the tourists also visit Mysore from here.

Departure

  • We need to start in Bangalore at 8:30 AM. 

Breakfast

  • After the 30 minute breakfast break, at 9:00 AM, we will depart to Mysore. 

Srirangapatna Tippu Fort

We will reach Tipu Fort at around 11:00 AM. Srirangapatna Tippu Fort is 126 KM from Bangalore. Srirangapatna Fort is a historical fort built by Timmanna Nayaka, ruler of the Vijayanagar Empire in 1454 and there were modifications in it until 1799.The fort consists of seven outlets and two dungeons. We need to see only the outer view here to cover the remaining places.

Jaamiya Masjid

We will reach Jaamiya Masjid at 11:20 PM. Jaamiya Masjid is 22 KM from Srirangapatna fort. There are galleried balconies that separate each stage of the minaret. This mosque is maintained and administered by the Bangalore Circle of Archaeological Survey of India. We need to see only the outer view here to cover the remaining places.

Watergate

From there, we will reach Watergate at around 12:00 PM. It is around 16 KM from Jamiya Masjid. It was the way the British invading army silently went to the attack in the fort after a traitor gave a way for them. We need to see only the outer view here to cover the remaining places.

Tippu Gumbaz

Next, we will go to Tippu Gumbaz and reach at around 12:20 PM. It is at a distance of around 4.5 KM from WaterGate. Tippu Gumbaz is a Muslim mausoleum holding the graves of Tippu Sultan, his father Hyder Ali and his mother Fakhr-Un-Nisa. It will take around half an hour to witness its elegant Indo Islamic architecture.

Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple

Later, we will reach Sri Ranganathaswamy temple at around 1:10 PM. It is 5.7 KM away from Gumbaz. This temple is dedicated to Lord Ranganatha and is one among the 108 Abhimana Kshethrams. It is first of the five Pancharanga Kshetrams and so the deity here is called as Adi Ranga. Probably, it will take around one hour to take the darshan and worship the deity inside.

St.Philomena’s Cathedral

We will reach St. Philomena’s Cathedral at around 2:10 PM. It is at a distance of around 14 KM from Ranganathaswamy temple. It is a catholic church constructed in 1936 and is one of the tallest churches in Asia. It may take around half an hour to visit the structure and richly crafted exterior with stained glass windows, plastered niches and Corinthian columns that are highly ornamental.

Lunch Break

There will be a lunch break at around 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM for half an hour.

N.I. Cauvery Emporium

Then, we will go shopping after 3:00 PM at N.I. Cauvery Emporium for some time and moved to sightseeing.

Mysore Palace

We will reach Mysore Maharaja Palace at around 3:05 PM. It is 1.8 KM away from the emporium. This palace, also known as Amba Vilas Palace, is a royal residence and used to be the official residence of the Wadiyar dynasty. It will take around an hour to visit the Durbar Hall, the Ambavilasa, the royal howdah(elephant seat made with 84 Kg of gold), the Kalyana Mantapa and the portrait gallery on display. 

Chamundi Hills

Later, we will reach Chamundi Hills at around 4:25 PM. It is around 12 KM away from the palace. These hills are known for Goddess Chamundeshwari devi temple which is located at the peak and it may take around an hour for the darshan and worship of deity.

Nandi Temple

We will reach Nandi temple at around 5:00 PM. From the temple, it is at a distance of 3 KM.  Nandi temple takes a half an hour visiting time for the darshan.

Brindavan Gardens

We will reach Brindavan Gardens at around 5:30 PM. Brindavan Gardens is at a distance of 32 KM from the temple. This garden contains 3 terraces which contain water fountains, Ficus trees, foliage plants such as Euphorbia and flowering plants like Marigold. Main attraction of the park is the musical fountain. It also offers boating in the lake and will take overall 3 to 4 hours of time here to enjoy the musical fountain show, to capture the beauty of the gardens and to explore various species of plants.

Dinner

We took a 45 minute dinner break at around 9:00 PM

Return

Started our return journey at around 9:45 PM to Bangalore and reached around 11:45 PM to 12:00 PM.
