Rajiv Gandhi International Airport is a global air terminal that serves Hyderabad, the capital of the Indian territory of Telangana. It is located in Shamshabad, around 24 km south of Hyderabad. The airplane terminal is worked by GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd, a public– private endeavor. It was opened on 23 March 2008 to supplant Begumpet Airport as the essential business air terminal for Hyderabad. It is named after Rajiv Gandhi, previous Prime Minister of India.
