How To Reach Amarnath From Bangalore in 2026

There is no direct route to reach Amarnath and the journey is completed in two stages. First, you have to reach till Jammu or Srinagar and from there you need to reach Base Camp(Pahalgam or Baltal) followed by trek or helicopter ride to Amarnath Cave. By Flight - Quick & Convenient

The flight journey takes around 3 hrs 45 mins and the price ranges from Rs.9,901 to Rs.15,900. Flights like Air India, Indigo, Akasa Air, Spice Jet, Air India Express run on this route. It is the easiest way to travel and can reach up to Srinagar airport. From Srinagar, you have to travel by road to reach base camp point Pahalgam or Baltal and trek to Amarnath Cave temple or take a helicopter ride.

By Train - Budget Friendly & Time Taking 

Traveling by train is a budget friendly option and is suitable for devotees who prefer less expensive travel. However, it takes a long journey to reach. Jammu Tawi is the nearest railway station to Amarnath. There are no direct trains from Bangalore to Jammu, so you need to take a train to Delhi, switch trains from Delhi to Jammu. After reaching Jammu, you need to travel to Baltal or Pahalgam by road. 

From Bangalore to Delhi, trains like Karnataka Express(12627), Rajadhani Express(22691), Sampark Kranti (12649) run regularly on this route with a travel time of around 33 hrs 30 mins. These trains have Sleeper coaches with price starting from Rs.935 per person, 3Economy coaches with price starting from Rs.2,425 per person,  3AC coaches with price starting from Rs.2,325 per person, 2AC coaches with price starting from Rs. 3,335 per person  and 1AC coaches with price starting from Rs. 5620 per person. From Delhi to Jammu, trains like 

  • Malwa Express (12919), Swaraj Express (12471)
  • Shalimar Malani(14661), Shri Shakto Express(22461)
  • Jammu Rajadhani(12425) run on this route and takes around 10 hrs of travel time

These trains have sleeper, 3AC, 2AC and 1AC coaches. Sleeper coach price starts from Rs. 385, 3Economy price starts from Rs.905, 3AC price starts from Rs.980, 2AC price starts from Rs.1365 and 1AC price starts from Rs. 2255. 

Also, there is Vande Bharat train which runs on this route and just takes 6 hrs 45 mins to reach. This train will have Chair Car and Executive Class coaches with prices starting from Rs.1360 and Rs. 2615 respectively.

After reaching Jammu railway station, you need to travel by road till Pahalgam which will take around 5 hrs of travel time. From Pahalgam base camp, you can trek or hire a helicopter to reach Amarnath Cave.

By Road - Least Preferred Option But Route Directly To Pahalgam

Travelling by road from Bangalore to Amarnath can be planned directly up to Pahalgam, which is one of the main base camps for the yatra. This avoids unnecessary diversion and keeps the route straightforward. If you are travelling on your own car, it would be the best option, but the journey is too long and tiring. If you are traveling by bus, you need to take a bus to Delhi, next to Srinagar and next to Pahalgam. From there, you need to trek or hire a helicopter.

If you want to directly halt at Pahalgam, you can drive on the route Bangalore - Hyderabad - Nagpur - Delhi - Jammu - Anantnag - Pahalgam. This route has a  distance of around 2,800 to 3,000 KM.

The Amarnath Yatra is conducted during June to August (Shravan month). Exact dates may vary based on the announcements and weather conditions.
