After reaching Srinagar airport, you have to take an on road transport to reach either of the places Pahalgam or Baltal which are the routes to make Amarnath Yatra. From there, you can trek or take a helicopter ride to reach the auspicious Amarnath Ice formed Shiva Linga temple. The flight journey approximately takes around 1 hour 30 mins, and on road journey approximately takes around 2 hours. So, this way can be comfortable and time saving travel.
There is no direct train to Amarnath, but you can travel to the nearby railway station, Jammu. Trains like Jammu Rajadhani, Shalimar Malani, Jhelum Express, Galtadham Pooja, SBP JAT Express run frequently on this route. These trains have sleeper, 3AC, 2AC, 1AC, 3Economy coaches and take around 10 hrs 35 mins of travel time.
From Jammu railway station, you have to take a by road transportation with 8 hours of journey and is best for budget travelers.
You can also travel by road from Delhi to Baltal in the Delhi - Jammu - Srinagar - Baltal route. Else, you can drive to Pahalgam from Delhi. The distance from Delhi to Baltal is around 879 KM and takes around 17 hrs of travel time. You can travel by own car or take a bus to reach Baltal. It is best for convenient trips and for road trip lovers. From Baltal, you have to trek to Amarnath cave or take a helicopter ride.
After reaching Srinagar, you can choose between two main routes, Pahalgam and Baltal. The Pahalgam route starts from Pahalgam with a distance of around 40 KM and takes around 3 days to trek with a traditional and scenic yatra.
