It is situated at an altitude of 14,200 feet above sea level and offers views of Brahma Kamal and other Himalayan flowers around this lake.

3. Shankaracharya Samadhi

The Adi Shankaracharya Samadhi in Kedarnath is a holy resting place located behind the Kedarnath temple. It is the samadhi of the 8th century philosopher and it is believed that he attained moksha at age 32. This place includes a meditation spot and a statue of Adi Shankaracharya.

4. Chorabari Lake

Chorabari Lake, also known as Gandhi Sarovar is a beautiful high altitude lake with around 12,800 ft height. It is located near Kedarnath and formed by the meltwater from the Chorabari Glacier. It is renamed Gandhi Sarovar after some of Mahatma Gandhi’s ashes were immersed here. It is a popular trekking & spiritual spot for visitors to Kedarnath.

8. Triyuginarayan temple

Triyuginarayan temple is located near Kedarnath and is an ancient spiritual place where lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati were married. It is known for its continuously burning fire which is called Akhand Deepam. The word “Triyugi Narayan” is derived from three words “tri” meaning three, “yugi” means a yuga and “Narayana” means another name for Vishnu. Devotees have been offering wood to the fire in the fireplace for 3 yugas. This is why it got the name Triyugi Narayan.
