1. Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple

The Mallikarjuna Swamy temple in Srisailam is one of the most significant jyotirlinga shrines of lord Shiva.  Here the deity is worshiped as Mallikarjuna along with consort goddess Bhramaramba devi. This temple is one of the best places to visit within one day in Srisailam.

Ideal Spending Time : If it is special darshan ticket, it typically takes 30 minutes to an hour.

2. Bramarambika Devi Temple

Sri Bhramarambika Devi temple in Srisailam is one of the 18 Maha Shakti Peethas and is another best place to visit in Srisialam. It is located on the banks of the Krishna river and is located alongside the Mallikarjuna Swamy temple. According to the Srisaila Khandam, Bhramaramba Devi is the original form of Goddess Parvati. Devotees believe that goddess gives good fortune, luck & happiness and she resides in the west direction of the temple.

3. Srisailam Dam

Srisailam Dam is the best place to visit near Srisailam at night. It is a gravity dam on the Krishna river and serves as India's second largest hydroelectric power station. It is located in the Nallamala hills near the temple town Srisailam. It has a maximum height of 470 ft and a length of 1680 ft. It provides breathtaking views at night with colorful LED lights.

Spending Time : Forest checkposts close at 9:00 PM; You can spend 30 minutes to simply enjoy the view from the view point

4. Pathala Ganga

Pathala Ganga is one of the best places to visit near Srisailam temple. It is a holy place located on the banks of Krishna river and devotees can take a holy bath here. According to Mahabaratha, before Bhishma’s death, Arjuna shot an arrow into the ground to bring out underground water, which formed the holy Pathala Ganga.

Spending Time : Open until 5:30 PM; Can spend between 1 to 1.5 hours for holy dip or short visit, if you take a boat ride you can spend 2 to 3 hours

5. Paladhara Panchadhara

Paladhara Panchadhara is an auspicious place to visit near Srisailam where streams of pure water flow continuously from the hills. It is believed that lord Adi Shankaracharya meditated here and composed Shivanandalahari. 

Spending Time :  Open until 5:25 PM; You can spend 30 to 60 minutes if you want to spend time enjoying the scenery

6. Sakshi Ganapathi Temple

Sakshi Ganapathi Temple is a small shrine located near Srisailam temple. Devotees believe that lord Ganesha here keeps a record of all devotees visiting Srisailam temple, acting as witness(sakshi).

Spending Time :  Open until 5:30 PM; You can spend around 15 to 20 minutes for darshan

7. Shikhareswara Swamy Temple

Shikareshwara Swamy temple, situated at the highest point of Srisailam hill, offers a beautiful view of the surrounding forests. This temple is dedicated to lord Shiva and devotees believe that deity protects the region & devotees. Shikaram means “summit” symbolizing the divine peak. It is said that visiting this temple completes the Srisailam tour.

Spending Time : Open until 6:00 PM; You can spend around 30 to 45 minutes for darshan

8. Ista Kameswari Temple

Sri Istakameswari devi temple is another best place to visit near Srisailam within 100 KM. It is located deep inside the Nallamala forest and is a peaceful shrine dedicated to goddess Kameswari, a form of Parvati. The temple is known for its ancient carvings(decorations on stones) and peaceful surroundings. Devotees believe that visiting this temple fulfills one’s desires and brings prosperity. One can reach the temple through a jeep drive through forests.

Spending Time : Open until 9:00 PM; You can spend around 1 to 2 hours, if you also take Nekkanti Jungle ride you can totally spend 2.5 to 4 hours

9. Srisailam Tiger Reserve

Nagarjunasagar Srisailam Tiger Reserve is the largest tiger reserve in India spread within 1439 sq mi. In this reserve, there are several waterfalls like Ethipothala falls, Pedda Dukudu, Gundam & Chaleswaram. Bengal tiger, Indian leopard, sloth bear, sambar deer, Indian python, Indian cobra, Chital and more can be seen in this reserve. It is the best place to visit near Srisailam at minimum distance.

10. Akka Mahadevi Caves

Akka Mahadevi Caves, located within 100 KM from Srisailam is the best place to see. These are ancient rock cut caves dedicated to the 12th century saint Akka Mahadevi. These caves are a series of naturally formed caves and are believed to be the place where Mahadevi did deep meditation of lord Shiva. Akka Mahadevi worshiped a naturally formed Shiva linga here. Devotees can reach these caves through a short boat ride. 

Spending Time :  Open until 5:00 PM; You can spend around 1 to 1.5 hours (boating & trek to reach the caves)

11. Octopus View Point

Octopus view point is one of the most scenic places near Srisailam and is situated on the hilltop. It offers broad open views of the surrounding valleys, Krishna river and the Nallamala forests. The viewpoint is called Octopus view point because, from above, the river bends & hills spread out like the arms of an octopus.

12.  Hatkeshwaram

Hatkeshwaram is a holy Shiva temple situated on the banks of river Godavari.
