1. Matsya Darshini

Matsya Darshini is a popular aquarium near RK Beach in Vizag. It displays a wide variety of colorful marine fish and sea creatures, making it an interesting and educational stop for families and children visiting Visakhapatnam.

2. Sri Kanaka Maha Lakshmi Temple

Sri Kanaka Mahalakshmi Ammavari temple is a famous temple located in Burujupeta, Vizag. Here, Goddess Kanaka Mahalakshmi is worshipped as a village deity. According to temple history, in 1912 the idol of the deity was taken out of a well and was installed in the middle of the road. For road widening municipal authorities removed the idol which resulted in many deaths with plague disease. Villagers believed that it was due to the removal of the idol and returned to its original place. Then the disease went down and people began to believe in Goddess and her powers.

3. Victory At Sea War Memorial

The Victory at Sea Memorial is a memorial structure located on Beach road in Vizag. It was built in 1996 after the 1971 Indo-Pakistan War. This memorial is dedicated to the sailors of the Indian Navy and Eastern Naval Command. During the 1971 Liberation War, the Pakistan Navy targeted Vizag port to destroy Indian aircraft carrier Vikrant resulting in the first naval victory of India.

4. Visakha Museum

Visakha Museum also known as Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation Museum is located in the port city of Vizag. It houses the historical treasures and artifacts of the Kalingandhra region. It was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N. Janardhana Reddy on 8th October 1991 and is owned by the Government of India.

5. INS Submarine Museum

INS Submarine Museum in Visakhapatnam is a unique naval museum housed inside a real officially closed for operation submarine, INS Kursura, where visitors can explore the inner workings of a submarine and learn about India’s maritime defense history.

6. Aircraft Museum

The TU 142 Aircraft Museum is a preserved Tupolev Tu-142 located in Vizag. It was built as part of Vizag city tourism promotion and was formally inaugurated by President of India, Ram Nath Kovind in December 2017. This aircraft served 29 years with the Indian Navy and had 30,000 hours of accident free flying by the time of its retirement on 29 March 2017 at INS Rajali Arakkonam.

7. Ramakrishna Beach

Ramakrishna Beach is a popular beach in Vizag which got its name from the Ramakrishna Math located here. It is well known for the INS Kursura S20 submarine museum, a Calvary-class submarine. Also, visitors can see Kali Temple here along with an aquarium. There are also activities like swimming, beach volleyball and sunbathing.

8. Indira Gandhi Zoo Park

Indira Gandhi Zoological Park is a must visit attraction in the Kambalakonda Reserve Forest in Vizag. It was launched by the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on May 9, 1977. This zoo park includes 800 animals of different species like Monkeys, leopards, tigers, lions, jaguars, reptiles like Pythons, turtles, Elephant, Bison and more. Also, visitors can explore birds species like Grey Pelican, Pied Hornbills, Painted Storks, Peacocks, Ducks, Love Birds, Parrots, Macaws etc.

9. Kailasagiri

Kailasagiri is a park on the top of the hill in Vizag which was developed by Visakhapatnam Urban Development Corporation and is spread over 380 acres of land. This hill is at a height of 360 feet and provides the beautiful & stunning open views of the Vizag city. The hill can be reached by a cable car and this hill is a plastic free zone. Kailasagiri Skybridge is a 55 meter glassbridge on the hilltop that provides the view of the city and beach.

10. Rushikonda Beach

Rushikonda Beach is a most visited beach in Vizag which is organized by Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation(APTDC). It is also known as the ‘Jewel of the East Coast’ and is the perfect destination for swimming, water skiing, wind surfing and other activities.

11. Sri Varahalakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple

The Sri Varahalakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple is a famous hindu temple located on the simhagiri hill in Simhachalam, Vizag. This temple is dedicated to Lord Narasimha, locally called Simhadri Appanna. It was built in the 13th century by the king Langula Narasimha Deva I of Odisha with Kalinga architectural styles. It is one of the most important shrines of lord Vishnu.

12. Thotlakonda Buddhist Complex

Thotlakonda Buddhist Complex is located on a hill near Bheemunipatnam in Vizag and is about 420 ft high offering open views of the ocean. The name Thotlakonda is given because there are a number of rock cut cisterns(a waterproof container for holding liquids). It also means “hill of cisterns”.

13. Dolphin’s Nose Lighthouse

The Dolphin’s Nose lighthouse is a popular tourist destination in Vizag. The hill shape looks like the nose of a dolphin, so it was named Dolphin’s Nose and this hill is 174 metres high. There is a lighthouse placed on this rock which guides ships 65 kilometers away. The British Army, before Indian independence, used it as a military camp.
