Kalady or Kaladi is a small town in the Ernakulam district of Kerala. It is located on the eastern banks of the Periyar River and is close to Malayattoor. Kaladi is famous as the birthplace of Adi Shankaracharya, the great Indian philosopher from the 9th century who promoted Advaita Vedanta.
