Alampur Jogulamba Devi Temple in Jogulamba Gadwal district is one of the famous 18 Shakti Peethas in India.The Jogamba or Yogamba (Jogulamba) temple is present at the union of two sacred Hindu rivers Krishna and Tungabhadra. It is a popular tourism destination in Telangana.Alampur town is at a distance of just 28 km from Kurnool City. It is believed that the upper jaw with tooth of Devi fell here at this place. Many devotees consider Alamapur as Dakshina Kailasam (Dakshina Kasi) or Sangama Kshetram. Alampur temple is located inin the state of Telangana, India.
Alampur Jogulamba is considered the Shakti of Bala Brahmeswara Swamy and the actual construction of the temple dates back to 6th century. The temple architecture is wonderful and the place is surrounded by Nallamala hills. Godess Alampur Jogulamba is also known as Gruha Chandi is present in sitting posture and devotees can observe Lizard, skull, Bat and Scorpion adorned in her hair at the time puja aarti.
This is an ancient hindu temple which was completely knocked down during the Muslim invasions in the 14th century. The temple is renovated and reconstructed recently in the year 2005 Jogulamba Temple and Brahmeshwara Temple are the predominant deities at the Alampur Temple. Alampur temple town is present on the left bank of sacred Tungabhadra river.
