Wayanad Heritage Museum, also known as Ambalavayal Heritage Museum is a museum at Ambalavayal in Wayanad district of Kerala. It is organized by the Dstrict Tourism Promotion Council. It has one of Kerala's largest collections of the remains, dating back to the second century.
The museum includes various interesting artifacts revealing the history, culture and heritage of the Wayanad region. The Museum displays tribal ancient treasures. There are four sectors of the museum namely the Veerasmruthi, the Gothrasmruthi, the Devasmruthi, and the Jeevanasmruthi which house different types of items ranging from the Neolithic age to the 17th century, including artifacts from ordinary tribal life.
The Wayanad Heritage Museum is significant as it houses objects from the region's distant past, like ancient tools, burial urns, and tribal crafts. These items help us understand how people lived, worked and expressed themselves in Wayanad over 2500 years ago.
The museum also honors the area's many tribal communities by displaying their art, farming tools, and musical instruments. By bringing these pieces together in one place, the museum helps visitors appreciate Wayanad's rich cultural traditions and keeps these stories alive for future generations.
The Sultan Bathery bus stop is the nearest stop to the museum at a distance of around 10.8 KM. You can reach the museum by taking a local bus or taxi from the bus stop.
