Lord Vinayaka temple is located on a small hill called Anegudde in Kumbashi which is near Kundapura. The name Kumbhashi is said to be derived from the demon Kumbasura who was killed by Bheemasena.
Once upon a time, there is severe drought in this area snd Sage Agasthya performed pooja and meditation to please lord Varuna to get the rains. Demon Kumbhasura started troubling the sages while they are in meditation. Then, Bheemasena gets weapon from Lord Ganesha to kill the demon. Kumbhasura got killed at this place.
Significance:
Anegudde is rewarded as one of the seven Mukti Sthalas of Karnataka. Anegudde is combination of two words - 'Aane' meaning Elephant and 'Gudde' means a hillock as it is the place of of the elephant headed god, lord Vinayaka.
It is called the Harihara kshetra in Kratayuga, Madhukanana in Tretayuga, Gautama kshetra in Dwaparayuga and Kumbhashi in Kaliyuga.
Festivals:
Ganesh Chaturthi is the main festival grandly celebrated in this temple. Sankashta Chaturthi is also celebrated with great devotion. On the 4th day after the full moon, Chaturthi of every lunar month, special poojas are held in this temple.

Kumbhashi bus stop is located at a distance of 750 m from the temple and can be reached easily by walk.
