The Araku Tribal Museum is a popular tourist destination in Araku Valley which resembles the lifestyle of tribals. It is a cultural landmark dedicated to preserving & showcasing the rich heritage of tribes. This museum was established in 1996 by the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC).
The museum offers an indulging experience into the lifestyles, traditions, and artistry of approximately 19 tribal communities residing in the Eastern Ghats. It was constructed with materials like mud & metal. It was spread over two levels with exhibits like representation of daily activities, festivals & rituals, displays like jewelry, hunting tools, kitchen utensils, scheduled live dances & fortune telling sessions in the local language.
The museum serves as a collection of the traditonal & cultural practices of the tribal communities ensuring that these are documented and passed down to future generations.
There are exhibits and interactive sessions in this museum to educate visitors about the unique customs, traditions & lifestyles of the native tribes. This museum is providing a platform for tribal artisans to showcase & sell their crafts. It contributes to the economic well being of the local communities.
