Chinnaswamy cricket stadium also known as the Karnataka State Cricket Association stadium is situated in Bangalore. It is owned by the Government of Karnataka and operated by the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA). This five decade old stadium regularly hosts test, ODI, T20I and first class cricket matches, as well as musical & cultural events. It is the first cricket stadium in the world to use solar panels for the electricity needed to run the stadium.
The foundation stone of this stadium was laid in 1969 and construction was started in 1970. The Karnataka State Cricket Association(KSCA) was later renamed as a tribue to M. Chinnaswamy He was the BCCI president from 1977 to 1980 and he was the secretary and president of KSCA. The first test played here was on 22-27 November 1974. India registered their first test match win against English team in 1976-77.
