Dodda Ganesh temple is situated in Bangalore is over 500 years old. It was a large rock and is a monolithic swayambhu(self-manifested single rock idol). It is 18 feet in height and 16 feet in width. The temple is located inside the Bugle Rock park, adjoining the Dodda Basavanna Gudi, which has the biggest Nandi statue.
The first founder of Bangalore Kempegowda I built this temple in the year 1536. Lord Ganapathi here is being worshiped as Shakthi Ganapathi & Satya Ganapathi. This idol will have four hands - one hand with flower garland, one is Abhayahastham and other two with Pasa & Ankusa. He is also called as Vama Mukhi Ganesha as the trunk is towards left side.
Ganesh Chaturthi and Butter Alankar festival are celebrated in this temple grandly. In the Butter Alankar festival, the idol of lord Ganesha is covered with over 100 kgs of butter. It is a unique and significant event in this temple which attracts a huge number of devotees.
