Jamia Masjid

Jaamiya Masjid is the largest mosque in the city and can accommodate ten thousand members at a time. It was designed by Rayyaz Asifuddin in 1940 with white marble from Rajasthan and is dedicated to Tipu Sultan. It is a five-storeyed structure with an spiritual purification pool in the centre of mosque. Muslims in large numbers come here during the death anniversary of Tipu Sultan. During the festival nights, the minarets are beautifully illuminated.

History Of Jamia Masjid :

The Jaamiya Masjid is located on the Old Poor House Road in the military area of the city and is one of the oldest mosques. It was built by Haji Abdul Quddus in the early 19th century. The granite pillars of this mosque were bought from Tipu Sultan's palace. For over 15 years the Jamia Masjid has run a modern English medium school from its cellars. Hijab-donning women teachers were employed here and they provided fundamental training in computers to the Muslim children.

You can board the bus from your location and can halt at Bangalore KR Market bus stand. It is just 160 m away from masjid and you can easily reach there.
