The Anjaneya Swamy temple is one of the most worshiped and popular temples in Beechupally. It is located on the banks of the Krishna river in Gadwal district of Telangana. This temple is dedicated to lord Hanuman also called as Anjaneya swamy. Lord Hanuman is worshiped here as a powerful protector and is very special rituals were held here during the Krishna Pushkaralu which comes once every 12 years. Gurram Gadda and Nizam Konda are located near the temple.
The origin of this temple dates back to 15th-16th century during the Vijayanagara Empire. According to tradition, the idol of Hanuman here was installed by Sri Vyasaraja who is the royal priest of the king Krishnadevaraya and one of the greatest Dvaita philosophers. The name Beechupally is derived from a young tribal devotee named Beechupalli who was the first devotee to worship the idol after installation. A Shiva Lingam temple is located near the river and a Sri Rama temple was included in the complex.
