Balasubramaniyasamy Temple or Siruvapuri Balasubramani temple is a 500 year old that was built by villagers in Thiruvallur near Chennai. This temple was originally called Chinnambedu.
The main deity in this temple is Sri Balasubramaniyar. It also has other deity idols like Thiru Annamalaiyar and Thiru Unamalai Amman. The Utsava Moorthy of lord Murugan is Valli manalar in wedding posture along with Valli.
Significance:
A statue of Arunagirinathar(a Tamil Shaiva saint-poet who lived during the 14th century in Tamil Nadu) is also present here facing the temple inner shrine. The saint-poet visited this temple several times and sang several Thiruppugazh songs out of which Archanai Thiruppugazh was sang in praise of lord Murugan.
As per Sthala Purana, Lava & Kusa, the sons of Lord Rama stayed here in Siruvapuri Sri Balasubramanyam temple. It is a 500 year old temple which is dedicated to son of Lord Shiva & goddess Parvati, Lord Murugan or Kartikeya.
