About Teynampet Balasubramaniyaswamy Temple

The Sri Balasubramanya Swami temple is located in Teynampet near Chennai. It is one of the popular Hindu temples dedicated to lord Murugan or Subramanya or Kartikeya.

Lord Murugan is known as the son of Lord Shiva & Goddess Parvati. In this temple, important festivals like Thaipusam, Skanda Shasti and Panguni Uthiram are celebrated. 

Significance:

This temple was built in traditional Tamil architectural style with a gopuram and various mandapams. It contains a multi-tiered gopuram, a spacious prakaram, garbagriha and sub shrines. 

In this temple daily rituals, abhishekam are held. Festivals like Thaipusam in the months of January-February, Skanda Shasti in October - November, Vaikasi Visakam in May -June months, Panguni Uthiram in March - April months are celebrated here every year. 

How To Reach:

Teynampet bus stop is just 550 m away from the temple. You can reach the temple by walk from the bus stop. T Nagar is the nearest bus stand at a distance of around 2.7 KM from the temple.  Buses like 12, 13B run frequently from T Nagar bus stand to Teynampet temple bus stop.
