The Sister stones are a pair of mysterious and iconic monolithics(single stone structures) located in Hampi. These two large granite stones are silent witness to the impressive beauty of the Vijayanagara Empire.
These stones are located near the Hampi Bazaar and on the banks of the Tungabhadra river. These two granite pillars are same in size, shape, and appearance which has led to the name "Sister Stones".
Significance:
The sister stones are believed to have religious importance and is believed to have been used as boundary markers or symbols of royal authority during the ruling period of Vijayanagara empire.
It is situated near the Virupaksha temple and are strategically placed in a important area showing that they may have held a role in ceremonial events or religious rituals.

Hampi bus stand is just 1.9 KM far from the Sister stones and can be reached by taking a local auto or taxi from the bus stand.
