Dr. B.R Ambedkar statue is a 125-ft tall statue in Hyderabad. It is 125 feet tall and stands on a 50 feet high platform and has a total height of 175 feet. It is the fifth tallest and third tallest standing statue in India. The former Chief Minister of Telangana Mr. KCR laid the foundation stone of this statue on his 125th birth anniversary(14 April 2016). This construction began in 2021 and completed in 2023 then CM unveiled the statue on 132nd birth anniversary (14th April 2023). Ram V. Sutar designed this statue.
Significance:
The memorial is spread over an area of 11.8 acres including the statue, foundation building, a replica of Indian Parliament, museum, library, conference hall and other structures. The cost for the entire monument was around was Rs. 146.5 crores.
The replica of Indian Parliament is three storeyed and has a total built up area of 26,258 sq ft. The museum includes many articles and pictures representing the life story of Ambedkar. The library includes audio visuals of Ambedkar's life.
Out of 11.8 acres, 2.93 acres are filled wtith landscape and greenery. There are two lifts (escalators) to reach top of the platform( feet of Ambedkar).
In this statue, Ambedkar holds the constitution in his hand and it is made up of 791 tonnes of stainless steel and 9 tonnes of brass.
