Telangana state new Secreteriat is officially called as Ambedkar Telangana State Secreteriat and is the administrative office of the Telangana Government employees. In the year 2022 on 15th September, government decided to name it as Dr. B. R Ambedkar Secreteriat. It was designed by Chennai architects Ponni Concessao and Oscar Concessao and has been built by Shapoorji Pallonji and Company Pvt Ltd. There is a 12 ft tall statue of Ambedkar beside this building.
History:
The old secreteriat was built in Nizam style structure called as Peshi or G-block. That building was spread over 25.5 acres and had 10 blocks. After the formation of Telangana state, the building divided to Andhra & Telangana states for 10 years. Later in July 2020, government started demolition of old buildings and started construction of state-of-the art new complex in its place. It was built in Indo-Saracenic style. Now, the new secreteriat was built in Indo-Islamic architectural features generally with domes.
