Ekambareswarar temple or Ekambaranathar temple or Kacchi Eakamban Tirukkoyil is a hindu temple located in kanchipuram town dedicated to lord Shiva. It is important destination for Saivism devotees.
Lord Shiva here is worshipped as Ekambareswarar or Ekambarnathar or Rajlingeswaram and is represented in the form of Prithvi lingam along with consort goddess Parvati devi as Elavarkuzhail.
The temple is spread within 25 acres of land and is one of the largest temples in India. It includes four gateway towers or gopurams out of which the southern tower is the tallest with 11 steps and a height of 192 ft.
The temple has numerous shrines, out of which Ekambareswarar and Nilathinal Thundam Perumal(a divyadesam) the Vishnu shrine are the most important. Everyday 6 daily rituals and 12 annual festivals are celebrated in the temple.
The Panguni Uthiram festival will be celebrated for thirteen days during the Tamil month of Panguni(March-April) and is the most important festival in the temple.
Kanchipuram bus stand is located at a distance of around 1.8 KM from the temple. You can reach the temple by taking a local auto or taxi from the bus stand.
