Suchindram is a town in Kanyakumari district and is an important pilgrim centre. It is popular for Thanumalayan temple also called as Sthanumalayan temple. There is a Hanuman statue at a height of 22 feet and is carved out of a single granite block in the temple.
Thanumalayan temple is dedicated to three different deities represented by one image in the inner temple. Sthanumalayan means Sthanu-Shiva; Maal-Vishnu and Ayam-Brahma. It is rich in sculpture and architecture.
The entrance tower to this temple is visible from a distance as it is 134 feet long. The face of the tower is added with sculptures & statues. About 30 sub shrines of various deities within the temple are present. A large lingam in the inner sanctum(garbha griha), idol of Lord Vishnu in the shrine beside it can be seen in this temple.
Festivals:
Markazhi (December/January) and Chiththirai (April/May) are the festivals celebrated grandly in this temple. During the Markazhi festival, on the 9th day deities are taken out in a parade around the streets on three festival cars.

Suchindram bus stop is located just 300 m away from the temple. Kanyakumari bus stand is around 13 KM far from the temple. There are many local buses from bus stand to reach Suchindram bus stop. Else, you can take a local taxi to reach Suchindram.
