Kudala Sangameshwara temple is located at Kudalasangam of the Bagalkot district. The temple is located near the Almatti Dam and is dedicated to Lord Shiva.This is an ancient temple built with Chalukya architecture style in a attractive manner. The Shiva Linga here is believed to have been a Swayambhu linga. There is also a museum in the Ashram of the temple containing a collection of sculptures and Karnataka's ancient history.
This temple is linked with the 12th century poet, Basaveshwara who got taught by the guru Sangameshwara at Kudalasangama. Basaveshwara became a prime minister to the Kalachurya king and after his long suceesful journey, he created a new spiritual institution where everyone could join.He attracted many devotees and majorly from that of devotees of Shiva and they came to be called as Lingayats. Kudalasangama became Basaveshwara's final resting place. This is the reason the place became most important for Lingayats.
Maha Shivaratri and Basava Kranthi are the festivals celebrated grandly in this temple. Also there is a temple's Rathothsava & Jathara is celebrated annually in February to March months.
Kudala Sangama circle bus stop is the nearest bus stop to the temple at a distance of 600 m. You can reach the temple by walk. Bagalkot is the nearest bus stand at a distance of around 46.7 KM. From there, frequest buses will run and you can reach the Kudala Sangama circle bus stop. Else, take a taxi from the bus stand to reach temple.
