About Thirumeeyachur Lalithambigai temple

The Tirumeeyachur Lalithambikai temple also known as Tirumeeyachur Mehanadhar temple is a hindu temple located in Thirumeeyachur in Tiruvarur district of TamilNadu. It houses the deity lord Shiva who is being worshiped as Meganathaswami with his consort goddess Lalithambika.

Significance:

It is one of the shrines of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams - Shiva Sthalams worshipped in the early medieval Tevaram poems by Tamil Saivite Nayanar Tirugnanasambandar. Tirumeeyachur Ilamkovil Sakalabhuvaneswarar temple is also located nearby. 

This temple is where Sri Lalita Sahasranama was composed and Hayagriva taught it to Agastya maharshi. This temple is considered as the birth place of Garuda-The vahana of Vishnu and Aruna - the chariot driver(charioteer) of Surya.

 Peralam bus stop is the nearest bus stop located at a distance of around 1.6 KM from the temple. You can reach the temple by taking a local auto or taxi from the bus stop.
