The Lakkundi Museum holds the ruins of Lakkundi showcasing the history of Indian art. It is a small but important museum which is run by the Archaeological Survey of India(ASI). It showcases the rich art & culture of the Chalukya dynasty, which ruled the region many centuries ago. This museum has a nice collection of old sculptures, stone carvings, inscriptions and temple parts found in and around Lakkundi.
The museum displays beautifully carved statues of lord Shiva, Vishnu and important personalities in Jains. It shows how Hindus, Jains & Buddhists lived together in the same area, representing each other's beliefs. It helps visitors learn more about the history and culture of Karnataka.It spreads awareness of regional heritage and archaeological practices highlighting the use of soapstone.
