Strawberry Garden

Lambasingi is a lush greenery destination with strawberry gardens. Strawberry farming is a popular & prominent activity in Lambasingi with individual farms and cultivation spread over a total of around 15 to 20 acres in & around the village. The red soil in the region is the main source of cultivating strawberry. This crop require temperatures between 15-25 degrees celsius. 

There are several varieties of strawberries growing here including Winter Dawn, Florida, Felicity, Von, San Andreas, Murano, Nabila and California. Farmers basically plant strawberry saplings from September first week to October first week. It takes about 60 days to grow on the land before transplanting. After planting, fruit is expected within three to four months. 

Significance:

In an acre of land, around 18,000 to 20,000 strawberry saplings are planted. These saplings are developed using tissue culture with a cost ranging from Rs.12 to Rs.15 each. Farmers invest around Rs. 3 to 4 lakh per acre for strawberry cultivation using drip irrigation method. Each plant can produce 1.5 kg to 2 Kg of fruit. They offer visitors a "Pick-and-Pack" experience at the farms so that people can pick the strawberries themselves from the farms. 

Beyond selling fresh fruit, value addition is done through processing strawberries into jam. Strawberry jam is made by mixing strawberries with honey or extracting pulp and mixing it with sugar. This strawberry farms have become a major tourist attraction in Lambasingi. These farms attract a huge number of visitors and as per a farmer report, around 25,000 tourists on a single day on New Year day and at least 5,000 tourists visit these farms during weekends. 

How To Reach:

Lambasingi bus stand is located at a distance of around 1.6 KM from the gardens. You can reach the gardens by taking a local taxi or auto from the bus stand.
