 Pazhamudircholai hills is well known for Arulmigu Solaimalai Murugan temple. This temple is on the top of the hill covered with dense forests. It is one of the six significant abodes of Murugan and is close to the Vishnu temple Alagar Kovil. This temple is maintained and organized by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department of Tamil Nadu Government.

Pazhamudircholai is located upon a hill and is surrounded by a dense forest. According to legend, the forest was the home of the goddess Valli. The temple also has sub shrines of Goddesses Valli & Devasena and lord Ganesha. This hill temple is covered by dense forests, offering a serene and spiritually enriching environment for devotees.

Significance Of Pazhamudhir Cholai (Hills)

Pazhamudhir Cholai holds the difference  of being the sixth and final among the Arupadaiveedu, the six holy abodes of Lord Murugan revered in Tamil Nadu. Unlike other temples, here the deity is displayed standing with both his consorts Valli  & Devasena symbolizing the union of Iccha Shakti, kriya Shakti and Jnana Shakti which means will, action and knowledge. Initially, the temple featured only a stone carved, the primary weapon of Lord Murugan, as the main object of worship. The temple's foundation is attributed to Cheaman Perumal, a ruler from Kerala. The temple is praised in ancient Tamil literature.

 Periyar bus stand is at a distance of around 25 KM and Madurai bus stand is at a distance of 19.6 KM from Madurai bus stand. You can take a local bus or a local taxi to reach the temple easily.
