Agni Teertham is one of the Tirthas in Rameswaram. It is a popular beach in east of Ramanathaswamy temple and is a place of holy bath. There is a belief that child-less couples having bath in this Tirtham and offering prayers to Lord Shiva at the temple would be blessed with children. Bathing in new moon days & full moon days are considered to be the most auspicious days to perform bath here.
Significance:
Agni Theertham is one of the 64 sacred water bodies or theerthams in Rameswaram and holds religious significance of Hindus. It is located just infront of Ramanathaswamy temple.
According to puranas, Lord Rama took a dip in Agni Teertham to clear the sin of Killing a Brahmin, Ravana. The name "Agni Theertham" comes from another mythological tale where Agni Dev bathed here to rid himself of the spiritual impurity acquired during Sita's fire test.
Pilgrims often begin their rituals by bathing in Agni theertham and enter the Ramanathaswamy temple for further pujas and darshan.

Rameswaram bus stand is located at a distance of around 2.7 KM from this temple. You can take an auto rickshaw or a local taxi to reach the temple. Rameswaram railway station is located at a distance of 1.6 KM from the temple.
