Daria Daulat Bagh which means "Garden of the Sea of Wealth"(rich garden by the sea) is a palace in the city of Srirangapatna. This palace is mostly made of teakwood and is called a Summer Palace. It is situated in the middle of the beautiful gardens called Daria Daulat Bagh.Tipu Sultan who is called as the "Tiger of Mysore" built this palace in 1784 and ruled Mysore from here. It was built in the Indo-Saracenic(used by British architects in the later 19th century) style and is built on a raised platform. There are open corridors along the four sides of the platform with wooden pillars. The partition walls divide the audience hall into four rooms at four corners with a central hall connecting the east & west corridors.
The space available on the walls, pillars, canopies, and arches have colorful wall paintings in the style of Mysore paintings. The outer walls have wall paintings of battle scenes and portraits while the inner walls are decorated with floral patterns.On the top floor of this palace is the Tipu Sultan Museum with a collection of Tippu's objects kept as reminders,European paintings and Persian manuscripts. In the background behind the fort walls are seen parts of the Palace and the pillars of the mosque.
Srirangapatna bus stand is just 550 m away and you can reach the Daria Daulat bagh easily by walk from the bus stand.
