Suruli Falls is situated in the Meghamalai hills of Theni district, Tamil Nadu. It is a beautiful two layered waterfall on the Suruli river that drops from 150 feet into a pool before falling another 40 feet.
The river originates from the lush Meghamalai (Pothigai) mountain range, and the falls flow throughout the year, becoming particularly powerful & more attractive during the June to October monsoon season.
Suruli falls is a beautiful waterfall with a long history. It is mentioned in the ancient Tamil epic Silappathikaram by Ilango Adigal, which shows that people have admired its beauty for centuries. It is believed that the water have healing properties. This makes it not just a scenic spot but also a place known for its natural health benefits.
There are many spiritual & cultural sites near the falls including the Kailasanathar cave temple, Suruli Velappar temple and a 17th century saint Abubacker Masthan dargah. It is a comfortable tourist spot with bathing areas, safe pools, changing rooms and convenient transportation. The annual Summer Festival held here adds to its charm.
Cumbum bus stand is the nearest stop from the falls at a distance of around 10.6 KM. Buses run frequently from the bus stand to reach the falls. Else, you can take a taxi from the bus stand.
