The Vakula Devi temple is situated in Tirupati city of Andhra Pradesh. It was built 5000 years ago on Peruru Banda hillock, around Peruru in Tirupati and was renovated from 2011 CE to 2022 CE.
It was spread within 50 acres and was constructed in such a way that the idol of Vakula Devi faces the seven hills, where lord Venkateswara resides. Vakula devi is the foster mother of the Hindu god Venkateswara, a form of Vishnu. She is the mother of lord Krishna in Dwapara yuga and wanted to witness the wedding of Krishna but she couldn't. Lord Krishna replied he would ensure that she would get such an opportunity to see his marriage to a form of Lakshmi in the Kali Yuga. Yashoda was reborn as Vakula Devi and lord was reborn as Venkateswara.
Vakula devi played a key role in raising and caring for lord Venkateswara during his human form. Devotees worship her as the representation of the motherly love and sacrifice.
Vakula Devi temple gives a unique spiritual position in the Tirumala Tirupati. Many devotees, especially mothers, offer prayers for the well being of their children. It is a powerful spiritual site where devotees experience gratitude, love & blessings of motherhood in a deeply meaningful way.
The Vakula Matha temple is located at a distance of around 11.9 KM from the Tirupati bus stand. You can reach the temple by taking a local taxi or bus from the bus stand.
