Malpe Beach is known as a destination for holidays & picnics in Udupi. The beach has a Sea Walkway with a view of St.Mary's Island and Bhadargad Island, as well as the rest of the beach.Artist Purshotham Adve created a statue of a fishing family including fisherman, fisherwoman & child. There are also other attractions close to Malpe Beach like Ulall beach, St. Mary's Island, Daria Bahadurgad fort and Balarama & Ananteshwara temples.
Malpe is an ancient sea port & harbour, where Karnataka and te western world traded. Malpe has been mentioned as early as second century C.E. It is also mentioned in Payri published in modern times in The Oxyrhynchus Papyri Part III.
Malpe bus stand is located at a distance of 1.8 KM from Malpe beach. You can reach there by taking an auto rickshaw or local taxi.
