Kailasagiri is a scenic hill park in Visakhapatnam. This park was developed by Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority(VMRDA) and is spread within 380 acres of land. It was filled with flora(plant species) and tropical trees like Palm trees, banana trees, mango trees, bamboo trees etc.
The hill is at a height of 568 ft and provides the beautiful open views of the city of Visakhapatnam. The Government of Andhra Pradesh awarded Kailasagiri as its "Best Tourist Spot" in 2003. Around three hundred thousand Indian & foreign tourists visit the park every year.
VMRDA declared the Kailasagiri hill as a plastic-free zone. A cable car coonects to the top of the hill. The name Kailasagiri refers to Kailasa, the mythical home of Lord Shiva reflecting the spiritual theme & cultural ambiance.
The park includes giant white statues of Lord Shiva & Goddess Parvati making it a spiritual attraction for devotees. This peaceful setting & religious significance make it a favorite for family visits and religious tourists.
It is a popular picnic spot with ropeway providing charming views of the beachfront, lush greenery and gardens. The hilltop hosts air installations, viewpoints, play areas, and food courts.
Visakhapatnam bus stand is located at a distance of around 8.4 KM from the Kailasagiri. You can reach the temple by taking a local bus or auto from the bus stop. Bus number 10K runs frequently from Visakhapatnam bus stand to Kailasagiri.
