Rushikonda beach is a popular beach and scenic spot located in Visakhapatnam on the coast of Bay of Bengal. It is maintained by the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corportation(APTDC).
It is also known as the 'Jewel of the East Coast' and attracts a huge number of tourists. It is an ideal place for swimming, water skiing and windsurfing.
The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Department has developed the beach into an attractive tourist destination with cottages, restaurants and other facilities around it.
This beach has been awarded the eco-label 'Blue Flag' by the Blue Flag Beaches Mission of India. This has now put the beach on the global tourism destinations. It was nominated for this project in 2017 and was finalised in February 2018.
As a part of this project, life guards, CCTV cameras, beach cleaning machines, outdoor fitness equipment and other safety equipment were provided.
How To Reach:
Visakhapatnam bus stand is located at a distance of around 12.8 KM from the beach and Rushikonda bus stop is located at a distance of 1.9 KM from the beach. You can reach the beach by taking a local bus like 900K or 900T from the bus stand or by taking a auto.
