The foundation stone of this museu was laid in October 2017 by the then Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu as part of the city tourism campaign.
It was officially inaugurated by the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, in December 2017. After serving the Indian Navy for 29 years, the aircraft was taken out of service on 29 March 2017 at INS Rajali, Arakkonam.
