Visakha Museum also known as Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation Museum is located in the Vizag city. This museum contains the historical treasures and artifacts of the Kalingandhra region.
It was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Janardhana Reddy on 8 October 1991, owned by Goverment of India.
There are two sections in Visakha museum namely Maritime museum and Heritage museum. The Eastern Naval Command has handed over the Naval Artefacts to GVMC to set up a Maritime Museum in the Dutch Bungalow in the museum premises. It includes weapons used by Navy, naval aviation and related aspects, nautical aspects, statye of Lord Varuna, Naval maritime history and more.
The Heritage Museum is a two steps building on the rear side of te museum and contains artefacts & herilooms from North-Coastal Andhra. It includes display of sculptures of Ganesha, Subramanya, Heads of Siva, Sivalinga & Bhairava, Vaishnavite idols, Kaliyana Krishna, Rama, Lakshmana, Sita & Venugopala and more.
Vizag bus stand is located at a distance of around 3.7 KM from the museum. You can reach the museum by taking a local bus or auto from bus stand.
