DSSC Memorial

DSSC(Defence Services Staff College) Memorial in Coonoor is also known as Second World War Memorial Pillar.  DSSC is a defence service training institution of the Ministry of Defence. It trains Indian Armed Forces like Army, Navy and Air Force.The Second World War Memorial Pillar, is in Wellington near Coonoor. It is a respectful tribute to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives during World War II.  This memorial is beside the DSSC and is popularly known as DSSC Memorial.This memorial is in a tall pillar structure decorated with Indian tricolor symbolizing national pride and remembrance. This site also has displays of military artifacts like ICV (Infantry Combat Vehicle) and a aircraft to tell its historical significance.

The DSSC was established in August 1947, and is one of the prime institutions for training Indian Armed Forces as well as civil servants.
