Golf Club

Golf Club in Coonoor is called as Wellington Gymkhana club golf course. It was established in 1873 and is one of the oldest golf clubs in South India.  It is located in Niligiri Hills at a height of 6000 ft. It is a 9-hole golf course and par 69 (Standard number of strokes that an expert golf player is expected to complete a hole).It is spread within 5,500 yards and will be open for the complete year. This course was designed by Vijit Nandrajog. The club is mainly for military personnels and other members have to pay a fee for membership to access this course. This golf course also has facilities like tennis courts, billiards & snooker, cricket pitch, gym and boating facility. It also has a restaurant and a bar offering variety of dishes & drinks.

Significance

Over the years, it has remained a popular destination for both military and general people. The club has hosted several tournaments and events. It is a venue for national & inter-services golf competitions. It's association with DSSC adds its heritage and importance in the region.
