Kaveri Nisargadhama Delta is known as an island by the locals which is formed by the Kaveri river. It is located near Kushalnagar in Coorg district. It is one of the popular attractions of Coorg. It is around 64 acre island with thick bamboo groves, sandalwood trees and teak trees. This island is accessible through a hanging rope bridge. Deer, Rabbits. Peacocks can be seen here along with a children's playground as well as a specialized greenhouse for orchids.Visitors can get into water at a few safe points along the river. Also, Elephant rides and boating are accessible here. Visitors can also access the treetop bamboo cottages.
It was developed in 1989 by the Forest Department as an eco tourism. The island has different flora & fauna that includes deer, rabbits, peacocks and more. The area develops local tourism and provides recreational oppurtunities. Also, it is the best example for conservation practices aimed at maintaining ecological balance while promoting controlled tourism.
Kushalnagar is the nearest bus stop to reach the island. It is situated at a distance of around 3.7 KM from the island and you can hire a local taxi to reach here easily.
