The Hill Palace Museum is located in Thripunithura, near Ernakulam and is Kerala's first heritage museum. It was once the residence of the Kochi rulers and has been preserved as an cultural heritage & archaeological museum making it the largest archaeological museum in Kerala.
The palace complex is spread across 54 acres and contains 49 buildings constructed in traditional architectural style, serving as both the imperial administrative office & official residence of the Cochin Maharaja.
The museum holds immense cultural and historical significance as it includes royal collections of the former Maharaja(King) of Kochi in the form of oil paintings, murals(ancient wall paintings), sculptures, manuscripts. and ceramics from Kudakkallu.
This museum combines cultural traditions and archaeological discoveries displays stone artifacts, coins, manuscripts & sculptures belonging to the Kochi Royal Family, while the Heritage Museum located in the old Nalukeettu, reflects the traditional lifestyle of Kerala people.
