Pillar rocks is a popular natural attraction in Kodaikanal. It includes three massive standing granite pillars that are around 400 ft tall. These vertical rock formations were in the middle of dense forests and valleys. It offers vast views of the surrounding landscapes. It is a popular spot for picnics & photography.
It is formed millions of years ago through volcanic activity. These are considered as a earth's wonder. A British couple, David and Irine Gell, visited the site during their honeymoon. Unfortunately, Irine slipped and fell between the pillars and that led to her death. In her memory, David set up a white cross on the top of one of the rocks. Later he sacrificed his life to reunite with her. Devil's Kitchen or Guna Caves is adjacent to the Pillar Rocks
