Soochipara Falls also known as Sentinel Rock Waterfalls is a three layered waterfall located in Vellarimala, Wayanad. It is surrounded by deciduous (at risk of falling) evergreen and montane(on the slope of mountains) forests. These waterfalls are locally called as Soochipara in which Soochi means Needle and Para means rock.
This rock waterfalls is 200 metres and offers a vertical slope that is used for rock climbing. The water flowed down here joins Chulika river or Chaliyar river. It takes around 15 minutes walk to the waterfalls and water flow is less during summer, which makes it easy to reach the rocks where water falls.
It is a beautiful three layered waterfalls falling from a height of about 200 meters. Its name referss to the needle shaped rock formations around it. The area is rich in natural beauty & biodiversity. The journey to the falls include a trek through lush tea estates and spice gardens.
At the base of the waterfall is a natural pool where visitors can enjoy a refreshing swim. The nearby vertical slope is also a popular spot for rock climbing. It is maintained as a plastic-free zone, reflecting environmental conservation.
How To Reach
Soochipara Waterfalls is located at a distance of around 2.2 KM from Elavayal bus stop. You can take a local auto from the bus stop to reach the falls.
