Golconda Fort is one of the oldest and historical Forts of India, that carries the Indian culture Heritage from generations. Golconda Fort, earlier known as ‘Golla Konda’ later came into the conquer of Qutub Shahi Dynasty, later came into the ruling of grandeur Mohammad Quli Qutub Shah, who named fort as Golconda and made several additions to the fort representing the Nawabi culture. 

Golconda fort was popularly known as ‘Diamond Market’ and famous for extracting precious diamonds and gems of the world including Hope diamond, Nassak diamond, Koh-i-Noor, and Darya-i-Noor.

One cannot miss trying the hand applauds sounded in the principal doors of the fort and clear patio sound is heard on the highest point of the fortress. There are many more beautiful monuments, Taramathi Gana Mandir, Baktha Ramdas Bandana and many more can be seen there which will definitely take back to the historical days of Golconda Fort.

Golconda Fort History

Golconda Fort was constructed on a hilltop in west Hyderabad in 1143. Though it was constructed in the 1100s, the fort was fortified between the 14th and 17th centuries. The inner structure consists of ruins of courtyards, palaces, pavilions, etc.

Golconda Fort Tourist Places

  • The fort welcomes you with nice grass lawns on either side of the pathway. Few meters up the path, the grand doorway stands tall in front of you. The doorway is huge enough to let elephants and chariots pass through it.
  • There is a lot of climbing on old stairs, over 500-feet up. If you are new to Hyderabad taking a guide would be better to know the history and to understand how it's designed.
  • In the lobby, you will find a small museum that has some artifacts.
  • The place has nice gardens, mosques, and mostly old structures that were once part of a real kingdom. It is taking around 2 hours to climb to the top of the fort. After getting through the hand-clap you should walk crossing some mosques and gardens then you can see your destination from below.

Birla Mandir

Birla Mandir Hyderabad

Birla Mandir is a Hindu sanctuary, based on a 280 feet (85 m) high hillock called Naubath Pahad on 13 sections of land (53,000 m2) plot. The development took 10 years and was opened in 1976 by Swami Ranganathananda of Ramakrishna Mission. The sanctuary was built by Birla Foundation, which has likewise developed a few comparative sanctuaries crosswise over India, which are all known as Birla Mandir.

Hyderabad tourism is not only about visiting historical places in Hyderabad but also about the famous mythological place, Birla Mandir located near Khairatbad. Birla Mandir is constructed on an old high hillock named Naubath Pahad which is about 280 feet high. The temple is constructed with several tonnes of marble brought from Rajasthan and the architecture is in Oriya style and it took almost 10 years to complete the construction of this beautiful temple. The temple was devoted by Sri Ranganathananda head of Ramakrishna Mission in 1976 and since then the temple receives prayers in a grandeur way.

The Mandir is dedicated to the Kaliyuga Daivam Lord Venkateswara and the idol is 11 feet high receiving devotional prayers every day in the temple. The atmosphere of the temple is so serene every sculpture is beautifully carved out of white marble stone and you can witness several paintings of epic Ramayana, small temples of Hindu deities, and the most noticeable 47 feet bronze flagstaff at the top of the temple.
