Lamb's Rock is a well known tourist attraction in Coonoor. It is located on the slopes of the Nilgiri Hills. It has a view of the Coimbatore plains, tea estates and coffee estates. It comes on the way to Dolphin's Nose and is the best viewpoint at a height of about 5000 ft. Witness the beautiful views of surrounding forested hills.
It is named after Captain Lamb, a British officer during the colonial era who made most efforts to develop it as a tourist destination. Captain Lamb undertook the task of creating a pathway to the high rock. So that tourists can experience the breathtaking views. In honor of his contributions, the site was named Lamb's Rock.The rock formation seems like a sleeping sheep with the surrounding hill slopes appearing like a blanket over it. This migtht be another reason for the name Lamb's Rock.It is best to visit this from March to May months as they offer cool climate. Be aware of monkeys in this area and capture the beautiful scenaries.
It is located at a distance of 6.4 KM from Coonoor bus stand and 6.5 KM from Coonoor railway station. You can hire a local taxi to reach the rock easily.
