Doddabetta peak is the highest peak on Nilgiri hills with a height of 8,652 ft. There is a reserved forest around the peak and is a popular tourist attraction. It is the third highest peak in South India. The word Doddabetta is a Kannada word which means 'big hill'.
Significance:
It is known for its scenic beauty and charming views. There are thick Shola (tropical mountain forests) forests and open grass fields on the way to peak. There is Bandipur National Park on the peak. It is a major tourist hotspot for tourists and is best photographic place. Tourists can have a great time taking wonderful photographs of the scenery.
There is also a Telescope House on top of the peak. From this telescope you can view beautiful views of the entire region closely. There are two telescopes here and even parts of Bandipur National park can be visible through the telescope.
You can also visit Tea Factory at the starting point of the peak. It is a factory and museum where you can see procedure of making tea from tea leaves. A free cup of tea is offered to visitors to feel the taste of fresh & natural tea.

Black Bridge bus stop is the nearest bus stop to Doddabetta at a distance of 6.1 KM. From there, you have to take a local taxi. Else you can choose a local taxi to reach Doddabetta directly.
