Jaganmohan Palace is one of the best Tourist places in Mysore. Jaganmohan Palace was established by the Royal family of the Wodeyar Kingdom in 1869. Royal King Krishnaraja Wodeyar III built this palace as another home to stay with his family alternative to his royal residence Mysore Palace.
Jagmohan Palace was later on converted to a magnificent art gallery in 1915 and named as Sri Jayachamarajendra Art Gallery.
Today the gallery presents a lot of exquisite pieces of artwork and antiques some intricate masterpieces.
Royal clothing, brassware, coins, use of weapons in wars, musical instruments are kept in an art gallery.
The famous Indian art, Raja Ravi Verma’s oil painting collections are found in the gallery.
The important artwork here that is S.G.Heldnkr’s "Lady with the Lamp", The famous lamp displayed in a room all on its own. This art gallery displayed 2000 more paintings of Mysore, Shantiniketan and Mughal style.
It is located opposite to the Mysore City bus Station and is 2km distance from the city bus station to Jagmohan Palace.
Every day several buses are found to go to Jagmohan Palace from Mysore. Cabs, auto-rickshaw, and buses are available from the Mysore city
